About Me
Hello, I’m James. I am a psychotherapist in training, offering body-based therapy for people experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, and a sense of disconnection.
My work focuses on helping you understand what is happening in your inner experience, not just through thinking, but by noticing what your body is telling you. My approach is collaborative, meaning we explore things together at your pace. It is non-judgemental, with no right or wrong way to feel, and grounded in the present moment by noticing what is happening as we talk. Rather than trying to immediately fix or change things, we begin by understanding them more fully. This creates the conditions for change to happen naturally.
Many of the difficulties people experience, such as anxiety, overwhelm, or challenging patterns in relationships, are not just in the mind. They are also held in the body. You might notice tension in the chest or shoulders, tightness in the throat or jaw, or a sense of unease you cannot explain. These are not problems to get rid of, but signals that can be explored and understood.
I am currently training as a psychotherapist at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education. As part of this, I work with clients, receive regular clinical supervision, and remain committed to ongoing personal and professional development. I also follow an ethical framework to ensure safe and responsible practice. Being in training means your experience is supported, reflected on, and held safely.
Alongside this, I am a certified Body-Oriented Coach, trained and accredited through The Somatic School, where I completed in-depth training in body intelligence, somatic awareness, and embodied transformation. I am also an accredited Mindfulness Practitioner and Meditation Teacher with the Breathworks Foundation, a globally respected organisation recognised for its evidence-based approach to mindfulness and compassion training.
I am drawn to this work because of my own curiosity about how we experience ourselves, both emotionally and physically. I know that emotions and sensations in the body can be confusing or overwhelming, especially when you don’t know why they are happening. My aim is to create a space where you can explore these experiences safely, at your own pace, and begin to reconnect with yourself in a grounded way.
